Extra-ordinary Meeting of COMEDAF Bureau of Ministers (Tripoli, Libya, mid-August 1999)

The COMEDAF Bureau of Ministries agreed that there should be an Extra-ordinary Meeting of the Bureau soon after the Summit of Heads of State and Government (held in Algiers, Algeria, on 12-14 July 1999) no later than mid-August 1999 to review the decisions made in Algiers. Libya offered to host the meeting. The extra-ordinary meeting would be expected to be an enlarged meeting of Ministers, drawing in the President of the Intergovernmental Committee of MINEDAF VII and the President of the Bureau of Ministers of ADEA, in order to assure the synergy between the three regional initiatives of the African Ministers of Education, as agreed at the Conference of African Ministers of Education (COMEDAF I) in Harare (15-19 March 1999). The Executive Secretaries of the three initiatives were also expected to attend the Libya meeting to provide technical support to the Ministers.

Note: The proposed Extra-ordinary Meeting was not held.
