The
Conference of African Ministers of Education (COMEDAF I) was convened by
the OAU, pursuant to Decision AHG/Dec.
251(XXXII) adopted in Yaounde, Cameroon in June 1996 by the 32nd Ordinary
Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the OAU. It was
preceded from 15-17 March 1999 by a Preparatory Meeting of Experts.
